Renowned cutlery manufacturer, Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT), has announced the release of its newest product, the Padawan Frame Lock Knife. This latest offering is the first design by Pedro Buzetti, who served as an apprentice to renowned knifemaker Flavio Ikoma. The Padawan derives its name from Buzetti’s apprentice status, as he transitions from student to teacher in the craft of knife making.
The Padawan is designed for both form and function, featuring a drop point blade crafted from 14C28N steel. This versatile blade style, seen in other branded knives such as the Benchmade Griptilian and the 5.11 Braddock DP, offers an ideal balance of strength and cutting capability. With a gently curving cutting edge and robust point, it enables a variety of cutting tasks to be handled with precision and ease.
Known for their exceptional edge retention and ability to be carefully maintained, 14C28N steel blades are relatively immune to wear and tear, reflecting an emphasis on durability and long-term usage.
The Padawan Frame Lock Knife also features a modified frame lock, a popular and tried-and-true mechanism that offers secure blade lockup. This mechanism first came into prominence with the Benchmade Griptilian and has since been a staple in the EDC (everyday carry) category for its user-friendly operation and reliable blade security.
An additional feature of the Padawan is its pocket clip design, which allows the knife to sit low in the pocket, ensuring user convenience and ease of access. As per previous models, the pocket clip design must balance retention and ease of access to avoid accidental loss or delayed deployment, making it a critical factor in everyday carry knives.
CRKT’s Padawan Frame Lock Knife, available in two versions, combines practicality with style, offering a smooth opening flipper for ease of use. The knife is set for retail at an MSRP of $100. Given the favorable response to past products from the brand, such as the Benchmade Griptilian Multi-Functional 551-S30V Knife and the 5.11 BRADDOCK DP Folding Knife, the Padawan Frame Lock Knife is anticipated to be another successful release in their line of quality knives. This addition to CRKT’s portfolio continues a tradition of innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing products within the cutlery industry.
