Daiwa’s LEXA Baitcaster Remastered – Low-Profile Baitcasting Reels
Eugene L. 11.20.23
Daiwa has done it again with their newest iteration of the LEXA, big fish freshwater, and inshore low-profile baitcasting reels. Already having almost a cult following with big fish anglers for the reels capability for long-casts and being an easily palmable low-profile baitcaster, this new design has made the LEXA’s better than ever. The newly redesigned LEXA is available in both a 300 and 400 size with multiple model options in each size. The new reels have two handle options, a single power handle or a double paddle handle. Both options have had the reel knobs changed out to a robust EVA foam for the knob material for better grip and feel.

“We’re proud to offer exactly what anglers have been asking for in the LEXA. It features a new level of palmability, reliable and precise UTD carbon drag, MAGFORCE cast control, Infinite Anti-Reverse, and new EVA handle knobs, which are sure to be a hit with the guys chasing big toothy-critters,” says DAIWA Marketing Manager, Marc Mills.
The reel frame and side plates are made from machined aluminum, perfect for keeping the precision brass gearing in precise alignment even under the pressure of a big fish. The gearing itself is a unique gear train that uses hardened brass for the main gear and pinion gear for durability. That way the LEXA can fish day after day with big heavy lures and high drag fights and just keep on trucking. For casting Daiwa has put in their proven MAGFORCE cast control system letting anglers fine-tune the spool tension and castability easily on the nonhandle side of the reel. The drag of the reel is Daiwa’s Ultimate Tournament (UTD) system capable of 25 pounds of drag pressure
“It’s a great reel choice for anything from saltwater to muskie fishing or any application where you need a larger low-profile reel. We’re seeing a lot of opportunities with this reel in Florida where anglers are throwing big swimbaits and bucktails for snook. We’re also seeing it take off on the West Coast for everything from yellowtail to calico bass; even guys fishing bluefin tuna will want it. Then you’ve got your striped bass markets, where the reel fits perfectly,” adds Mills.
