NEW 5.11 Footwear for Fall 2023 – The Growth of the Norris & More Boots!

5.11 is bringing out some new 5.11 footwear for this fall season. They are finally making an AR670-1 compliant boot for all of us in the military and this is actually pretty exciting. Other than that there will be some new trainers along with new colorways of the McClane Mids. I think 5.11 has really stepped up their game in the past several years by always releasing new versions and colorways of their popular products and giving the consumers what they want. Long ago I thought that the 5.11 footwear line was really nothing special. Most of the time when I see a company who is not known for footwear getting into the footwear market, I’m a bit hesitant and wait to see the reviews before I buy anything for myself. This was certainly the case with 5.11, but in my opinion, I think their shoes are some of the best things they make at this point so I’m pretty excited whenever I see them come out with new offerings. Hopefully I can get my hands on some of their new Military boots at some point in the future for a review for the site.

For those seeking everyday footwear, the Foley Mid ($80) and Foley Low ($75) are noteworthy additions to the Norris family. Designed with an improved fit, including wide options, both styles feature an updated Vibram Hexgrip outsole for improved traction across various environments. The introduction of a drop-in X-40 Ortholite® footbed enhances cushioning and comfort. These shoes are also built to last, featuring a ballistic nylon upper.

Drawing from user feedback, the McClane Mid ($100) emerges as the next-generation Norris Sneaker. With an enhanced fit and extended sizing, including wide choices, the McClane Mid prioritizes comfort with a breathable tongue. The updated Vibram Hexgrip outsole ensures better traction, while the new drop-in X-40 Ortholite® footbed provides increased cushioning. Notably, the shoe now includes an ASTM-certified puncture-resistant board.

Meeting military standards, 5.11 introduces its first two AR 670-1 compliant boots for Fall: the EVO 2.0 8” AR 670-1 and the Speed 4.0 8” AR 670-1. The EVO 2.0 8” AR 670-1 ($160) boasts enduring comfort and support through Force Foam® cushioning and an Ortholite® footbed. These boots comply with Army Regulation 670-1 for specific uniform wear.

Providing another AR 670-1 compliant option, the Speed 4.0 8” AR 670-1 ($120) stands out for its lightweight design and superior features. Crafted from suede leather and 1200D nylon, it incorporates Force Foam® heel cushioning and an Ortholite® footbed for lasting comfort. The boots’ slip- and oil-resistant outsole, coupled with heat deflect material, ensures durability and protection. Similar to the EVO 2.0 8” Boots, these are compliant with Army Regulation 670-1 standards for uniform wear.
