[ICAST 2023] The iReel One Smart Fishing Reel from KastKing

KastKing brought off something very unique to ICAST this year with their new iReel One Smart Fishing Reel. Thinking ahead to the future KastKing has brought a new category of fishing reel with the Bluetooth-equipped iReel being the first of the “smart reels”. This reel uses Bluetooth to pair the reel to the KastKing App on your smartphone. From there you setup the app by inputting the line type, test, and diameter. On the water, the sensors capture the spool movements to provide anglers with precise metrics on their casts; # casts made, retrieve speed, spool rotation, cast speed, and more. That way anglers can use this data to understand their cast and retrieve better and adjust how they fish to improve.

Their reel also uses sensors to control the Advanced Digital Braking to apply the sophisticated electromagnetic braking system. Beyond the smart features of the iReel, there are other features of a higher-quality reel. The finish of the reel uses a new electroplating technology for a scratch and corrosion-resistant mirror finish. The line guide is KastKing’s new Axis Eye Line Guide that pivots to become 6 times wider than a regular guide when casting. That way the angle of the line coming off the spool is a shallower angle with less friction. Both the Digital braking and mechanical braking reels come in a 7.2:1 gear ratio, a carbon fiber drag capable of 16 lbs of force, and left/right-handed options. The iReel IFC with Digital Braking System will be $349.99 and the iReel Amb with Mechanical Braking System will be $299.99. Both models are available for preorder as of now.
