AO Review – Springfield Armory Saint VICTOR w/ Law Tactical Folder
Adam Scepaniak 07.26.23
Springfield Armory has long cemented their reputation as one of the best options on the market today for a mid-tier modern sporting rifle or AR-15. The value you get for the price they’re asking is the best value proposition on the market today. Being unsatisfied with this mark of excellence, they still look for new creative ways to get people excited for the AR-15 platform which has been out for decades now. One of their latest offerings is the Springfield Armory Saint VICTOR with a Law Tactical Folder. While folding stocks is not an entirely new concept by any stretch of the imagination, well-designed ones executed in a tasteful manner are relatively new. Law Tactical is the leader in this space and to see one married to a Saint VICTOR makes for an interesting combination. We will review the Saint VICTOR with a Law Tactical Folder today to see if this is something you want to invest in from Springfield Armory. Let’s dive in!

Field Use – Springfield Armory Saint VICTOR AR-15 with Law Tactical Folder
When it comes to field use of this variant of the Saint VICTOR series we tried to focus on the Law Tactical Folder as much as possible. We have extensively reviewed Saint VICTOR offerings here on AllOutdoor and accuracy has never been in doubt. Most recently, I had taken a Saint VICTOR to a Tactical Games event hosted near Brownells in Iowa where the rifle performed superbly in adverse conditions: high round count in a short period of time, no cleaning, high heat, high humidity, and being bounced against full kit while on a 2 Mile run.
Instead, let’s look at the efficacy of having a folding stock, its potential personal use for you, and the quality of the Law Tactical Folder specifically. The Law Tactical Folder is by all metrics the industry standard – the benchmark by which all other folding stocks are judged against – but we still wanted to assess its performance on this offering of the Saint VICTOR.
An enormous thank you to Federal Premium for providing ammunition for this review. All of the ammunition cycled perfectly through our rifle, grouped consistently, loaded easily into a magazine, fed reliably from the mag into the chamber, and was clean shooting. We could not ask for anything else from our test ammunition.
To test the lock-up and security of the Law Tactical Folder, we did close-quarters target engagements at the range with some Federal Premium M193 55 Grain FMJ (Full-Metal Jacket). This was a lot of quick shooting, pivoting, and generally fast movements from one target to the next at 20 yards or less. If the Law Tactical Folder were to be loose or fail in some sort of manner, we believed it would occur with swift, jarring shooting patterns. We were unsurprised to see the folder function perfectly. To accomplish this gamut of rapid-fire shooting, I enlisted my neighbor, Alex – military veteran and firearm savant – to help provide all of our cardboard offerings with some ballistic attention.
After probably shooting 300+ rounds in a short period of time, the Law Tactical Folder still presented a secure lock-up. We also looked under the hood to see if there was an aggressive build-up of carbon, dirt, and/or grime. If so, this could definitely present issues down the line with a higher round count of shooting. With 10+ magazines of ammunition sent down range in less than an hour, the system looked pretty dang clean.
Final Thoughts – Springfield Armory Saint VICTOR AR-15 with Law Tactical Folder
So, what are my final thoughts on the Springfield Armory Saint VICTOR with a Law Tactical Folder?… All in all, the folding stock on this offering of a Saint VICTOR is executed very well; by both Springfield and Law Tactical. The Law Tactical Folder does not hamper Springfield’s hallmark accuracy… Springfield’s platform does not inhibit the functioning of the Law Tactical folding stock… and the rest of the weapon manipulations remain the same so anyone could easily pick this rifle up and know exactly how to run it.
The greatest question that remains is who is this type of rifle suited for?… This could be great for law enforcement if they need a carbine for a patrol vehicle that needs to be deployed in compact areas. It could provide value to a rancher or farmer if they need a rifle with a small footprint for dispatching varmints from an ATV or UTV. It also could see traction in the home defense market if it is something that someone wants to have hidden or stowed under their bed.
This rifle definitely is fit for a smaller, more niche audience, but it does offer a unique spin on a common platform. At an MSRP of $1,363 I believe the pricing is still appropriate for what Springfield Armory is bringing to the table. For anyone wanting an AR-15 with in a smaller package, this is definitely it. We would highly recommend it.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Springfield Armory for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their Springfield Armory Saint VICTOR AR-15 with a Law Tactical Folder. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think?
