AllOutdoor Review: My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack – Ready Collection

All of us are glad that summer is finally here and we can fully embrace the outdoors, all the recreation that comes along with it, and completely enjoy nature. From seeing wild animals around dusk and dawn to flowers and even our tiny pollinator friends like honey bees. With us entering their domain – the areas that bees frolic and call home – we can sometimes incidentally get stung (we are, after all, intruders to the places they call home). When this happens it is never pleasant, but there are steps you can take to ensure the irritation, pain, and discomfort is as minimized as possible. With some simple medical care like that which can be found in the My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack, hopefully being around honey bees and other bugs won’t sour your outdoor experiences even if you are stung. So, today we are going to review the My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack to see what it is all about. Let’s dive in!

Field Use: My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack – Ready Collection

The best way to test the My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack would be to deploy the different medical equipment on actual bites and stings. Thankfully, myself and none of my loved ones have recently been stung where this kit has been needed, but we can still assess the contents of this med pack, the value in them, and whether or not My Medic was wise in what they included in their med pack.

The largest and most consuming pieces to this med pack are the wipes. My Medic includes 3 different kinds which all serve a valuable purpose. The sanitizing wipes are a no-brainer. If you happen to be stung by any insect the last thing you want to do is further irritate a bite mark by contaminating it. Secondly, the sting relief wipes, can provide temporary pain and itch relief if you are ever bitten. This is important because you don’t want to aggravate or spread anything if you happen to be stung or bit. Thirdly, there are bug repellent wipes. If you are a beekeeper for honey like my wife and I, having something like this can be valuable when you are openly handling bees and in their space.

You also receive a straight edge tool to assist in removing a stinger (if one is present) in a bite or sting mark. This is more valuable and handy than one might think. My immediate knee-jerk reaction would be to use my on-person knife, but that is never sterile or clean. So, a dedicated tool to help with removing a stinger is valuable and does not take up a lot of space.

The last elements in this med pack (aside from a folded instruction set) is the skin irritation ointment and bandages. This ointment is used to treat and reduce pain and inflammation in wounds while the bandage obviously covers up the wound so it remains clean and uncontaminated as it heals. These again are very essential, basic, and crucial components to caring for stings and bites.

Final Thoughts: My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack – Ready Collection

So, what are my final thoughts on the My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack from their Ready Collection?… Overall, it does several things very well. It is small and compact in nature so this is something you can easily put in a glove box, center counsel, or a backpack. Toss it in and forget it until the need arises. It is lightweight also so you don’t have an excuse to not include one in a “go-bag” or survival pack. Also, it hits on the basics of treatment for a bite and sting med pack. Finally, the price which we never mentioned. This only costs $7.96 which could be cheaper than most people’s cup of drive-thru coffee.

I further consulted with my wife who is the in-house, subject matter expert (SME) on beekeeping and has been stung a handful of times herself. She stated her highest priorities would be an oral antihistamine (which could easily enough be added to this med pack by stopping by a CVS, Walgreens, grocery store, etc) and a topical ointment cream (which this med pack has). So, overall this med pack scores well on price, contents, and for having a topical ointment cream. At a price of $7.96 it is difficult to pass up.

Finally, it is important to consult a doctor if you are ever bitten or stung and begin to see worsening symptoms because you may be allergic to bee or insect bites and be unaware of it.

In closing, I want to say thank you to My Medic for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their My Medic Bite & Sting Med Pack – Ready Collection. That is greatly appreciated.
