AO Review: Fringe Protein Bars – Mushroom Infused On-the-Go Snacks
Adam Scepaniak 05.29.23
Recently, on our “Home on the Range” weekly outdoor series, we talked about harvesting some of your very own Pheasant Back mushrooms to cook as a plate compliment to steak or your favorite cut of meat. Some of the best mushrooms we can dine on are not in a grocery store (very rarely); rather, you need to forage them yourself out in nature. One very unique company – Fringe Food Co. – has changed the idea of what “protein bars” can be all about with their heavy use of mushrooms. These Fringe Protein Bars piqued our interest because we are always hunting down tag along snacks for our adventures and exploits in the outdoors. So, in today’s review, we are going to take a look at Fringe Protein Bars in their Mango Hemp, Coconut Cashew, and Chocolate Almond Butter flavors. Let’s dive in!

Fringe Protein Bars – Mango Hemp, Coconut Cashew, and Chocolate Almond Butter
By the looks of the packaging, marketing, and the overall vibe of Fringe Protein Bars, you probably had my same initial thoughts – “these seem like some pretty groovy, crunchy people” – and I am all here for it! “Crunchy” sometimes could be thought of as a negative term describing people as grungy, dirty (literally or someone who loves to play in the dirt), and part of nature. The more you think of it though, isn’t that what all of us are aspiring to be here at AllOutdoor? We discuss collecting ‘shrooms, raising livestock so we know where our food comes from, gardening, hunting, and being self-reliant. So, Fringe Protein Bars appeal to us for more than their use of mushrooms in a protein bar. As our younger generation would say, they have a good vibe with a good tribe.
The older I get the more I am staring at nutritional labels wondering “what am I really putting into my body?” I don’t believe I am alone in that regard. So, it is awesome to see that Fringe Protein Bars are free of Artificial Sweeteners & Flavors, Preservatives, Added Sugar, Gluten, Soy, Dairy, Seed Oils, and in Fringe’s own words – Bad Vibes.
Yes, it’s true, you can have it all. Three epic flavors, each loaded with functional real food ingredients, conveniently bundled to keep you charging all day long. You’ll have something for everyone in the crew, or keep them all for yourself. No judgment here!
Supercharged with clean, real food ingredients, Fringe bars are naturally high in protein and nutrients. Each delicious bite will fuel your body and keep you amped!
When it comes to the ingredients that Fringe Food Co. deploys in all of their protein bars you will be pleasantly surprised to know that there are no “mystery chemicals,” and while it doesn’t pass my can you actually pronounce all the ingredients test, that is only because they use some pretty gnarly and healthy mushrooms in their bars. All of the ingredients for their 3 different flavors can be read below as presented by Fringe Food Co:

Final Thoughts: Fringe Protein Bars – Mango Hemp, Coconut Cashew, and Chocolate Almond Butter
So, what are my final thoughts on these Fringe Protein Bars in their Mango Hemp, Coconut Cashew, and Chocolate Almond Butter flavors?… All in all, I came away impressed by them. I appreciate the lengths they went to so this would be an authentically healthy product; not a fake healthy product. Also, the flavors are good. The Mango Hemp was my favorite with actual chunks of dried mango in the bar, but the Coconut Cashew and Chocolate Almond Butter were good as well. Lightly flavored and lightly sweet. Nothing that is going to spike your insulin and have you crashing after you eat one. If you want a healthier alternative snack for your daily adventures, these Fringe Protein Bars are a good option to entertain.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Fringe Food Co. for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their Fringe Protein Bars in their Mango Hemp, Coconut Cashew, and Chocolate Almond Butter flavors. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think? Do you believe that the Fringe Protein Bars in their Mango Hemp, Coconut Cashew, and Chocolate Almond Butter flavors is something worth spending your money? Would you take it hunting with you, hiking, camping, or would you use it as a daily snack? As always, let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
