POTD: Colt .22 Experimental Prototype Semi-Automatic Pistol

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have a unique experimental Colt .22. This is a prototype variation of the Colt 22 that debuted in 1994 and got discontinued in 1998. this specific prototype is from 2008 according to its Colt factory letter which makes it a prototype comeback Colt of sorts. Just going off of the photo it appears to have a bigger bull barrel than the original Colt 22 but that is about it.
“Confirmed by the accompanying Colt factory letter, this pistol was an experimental prototype kept by the Colt factory. The factory letter also confirms the caliber, 4 1/2 inch vent rib heavyweight barrel, finish, and checkered stock molded within composition receiver and inlaid with nickel Rampant Colt medallions. Complete with factory case, “The Legend Lives” cardboard box and extra magazine.”
