One thing that I especially want the right tool for is chopping wood. I’ve used various edged tools to accomplish this, but it’s so much work. The Cold Steel Hudson Bay Camp Axe
The Hudson Bay Camp Axe uses a 27″ long American hickory handle. The head weight is just under a pound and a half, and features a 4 1/8″ cutting edge. The blade is made from 1055 Carbon. Most impressive is the method of attaching the blade to the handle. They’re held together using two hex keys. If you were to break your handle in the field, replacing it with another piece of wood can theoretically be accomplished in minutes. With a design that dates back over 100 years, this axe would find itself right at home next to any wood pile.
