POTD: Two Barrels Ain’t Enough! – Winchester Liberator Shotgun

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Ah yes, the Liberator pistol… wait what? Oh yeah, the Liberator shotgun. The Winchester Liberator Shotgun was a four-barreled break action shotgun developed and intended for military and police use. I myself have seen one of these in person during my time working at FN America (they have a “Winchester Room”). This example is a photo from the Cody Firearm Museum (check them out!) and they go in-depth a little more below:
“Winchester developed the Liberator shotgun in the early 1960s. The gun is a four-barrel break open shotgun and with a rotating firing pin to fire each chamber in sequence. Winchester had hoped the gun would generate government sales, but none came and the project was dropped. However, it did leave us with four prototypes and a wooden sample. This particular version has a detachable wire stock, folding trigger guard, and wooden grips. Not to mention the handy “Liberator” tag in case we forget what model it is.”
