POTD: What is Wrong with Toggle Lock? Luger P08 to Walther P38

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Today we have a photo of the iconic Walther P38 pistol courtesy of Cody Firearms Museum’s Facebook – check them out they are awesome! When I say the word iconic in terms of handguns, one of the MOST iconic is arguably the Luger P08 pistol which Germany famously wielded in WWI and WWII. Both of these pistols are intertwined in time and history which makes it all the more special. Cody Firearms Museum says it best below:

“The Walther P38 was originally intended to replace the Luger in German use in early WWII, although German handgun procurement proved to be… eclectic. After the war, France briefly used the P38, along with a number of other countries, and in a modified from as the P1, the design saw use with the German Bundeswehr until the 1990s.”
