Springfield Armory SAINT Victor Hunts Up a NEW Round in 350 Legend

If you are in the market for a modern sporting rifle, but you would like to be able to use it for hunting it can present a problem. It is a problem only because 5.56mm NATO/223 Rem can often be too small of a cartridge for medium- and big-game hunting. Yes, there are 308 Win rifles in the AR-10 platform, but those can be a bit heavy for some people. So, where’s the happy middle ground? Maybe you could try something in 350 Legend. Maybe that could be a Springfield Armory rifle as well.

Springfield Armory has taken their staple SAINT Victor rifle and chambered it in the new, popular, and straight-wall cartridge of 350 Legend. The 350 Legend cartridge is still pretty new having been debuted on January 21st, 2019 at that year’s SHOT Show. Even still, it has found a home for many hunters being a straight-wall cartridge that is widely accepted for hunting. The current MSRP for the Springfield Armory SAINT Victor chambered in 350 Legend is $1,073. Many hunting seasons are wrapping up throughout the US so it is a bit late for sportsmen/sportswomen to jump in on this rifle and utilize it this year for big-game hunting. That does not mean it would not make a great Christmas gift though. The Press Release below outlining the SAINT Victor 350 Legend offers up some motivation for hunters to give it a try:

“The SAINT® Victor rifle is now available in 350 Legend for hunting in states where straight-walled cartridges are required. The 350 Legend is the fastest production straight-walled cartridge in the world with an effective range of up to 250 yards and is perfectly suited for use in the SAINT Victor. Outfitted with a free-float handguard for increased accuracy and a 5-round magazine the new SAINT Victor in 350 Legend is purpose built for whitetail hunters.“

So, in a market where AR-15s chambered in 350 Legend are few and far between Springfield Armory has produced a quality offering to tempt us all with. I have shot quite a few bolt-action rifles already chambered in 350 Legend and saw good results, but I am curious how a modern sporting rifle might perform. What do you think?
