Handgun Correction Chart Targets Can Make Life Better
Russ Chastain 02.18.20
When it comes to shooting, there are many ways to get things done and many opinions on which ways are best. The same applies to “shooting correction charts,” which are targets with certain portions marked out with directions or suggestions on what you’re doing wrong if your handgun shots are hitting the target in that area.
Folks who take these charts seriously use different targets for different hands, because common problems will produced mirrored results if a shooter is using his or her left hand instead of the right.
Use caution, though — I found this one which claims to be for the left hand, but is actually the same as a right-hand version. Such is life when you rely on random people on the internet to supply your targets.
Then there are the sarcastic versions, composed by folks who should really be edited for brevity.
On the other hand, some are perhaps oversimplified.
And of course there are the nasty versions which attempt to motivate through insults.
Some prefer the brutally honest approach.
And finally, we have the photo that inspired this article. This one really tells it like it is.
Seriously, I don’t really think you should leave the range just because you shoot a terrible group, unless that’s as good as you can do and you cannot improve on it. If that is the case, I strongly encourage you to not only leave the range, but to sell your handguns — or at least trade them in on a shotgun with a nice open choke (or maybe a blunderbuss).
