Imagine a liberal utopia where an individual can break any law they wanted, even selling firearms to criminals, and all they get is probation. No prison time, nothing but probation, community service and a small fine.
Such a liberal utopia exists in Chicago. That’s right, the crime ridden city of Chicago hands out probation for offenses such as selling firearms to criminals. On probation for family violence, but need a gun to impress your gang buddies? No problem. Just get someone else to buy the gun for you.

On September 27, 2016, the Firearm Investigation Team concluded an investigation of a FOID card holder who illegally put guns on the street. The investigation revealed that Simone Mousheh, a twenty two year old female, purchased a Glock 23, a 40 caliber firearm but soon thereafter reported it stolen. The weapon was later recovered from a juvenile offender in the 010 th police district.

Charges were approved for two counts of felony Illegal Transfer of Firearms and two felony counts of selling a Firearm w/o Valid FOID.
After she was arrested and charged, all she got was probation.

A Mount Prospect woman pleaded guilty to selling guns illegally and was sentenced to probation.
Simone Mousheh, 23, pleaded guilty Thursday to the illegal transfer of firearms in exchange for 12 months probation and 15 days in the Cook County sheriff’s work alternative program, according to court records. S.W.A.P. allows judges to sentence nonviolent offenders to manual labor in lieu of jail time.
Opinion
That right there boys and girls is why gun owners get a bad rap, and why we can not have nice things. It is a classic example of a bad policy. Rather than setting an example and prosecuting straw buyers to the fullest extent of the law, all they get is a slap on the wrist, probation, community service and a fine.
What are other straw purchases going to think when someone gets probation for supplying firearms to gang members? Is there any wonder why Chicago has a gun problem? Catch someone committing a felony, give them probation, let them back out on the streets.
If Chicago would enforce their gun laws, which means taking criminals off the streets, chances are crime would go down.
