Four Reasons To Own a Case Knife
Kevin Felts 08.30.17
When it comes to pocket knives, few brand names stand out like W.R. Case & Sons. According to the company website, Case started with four brothers selling knifes out of a wagon in 1889.
In 1900, the brothers incorporated and formed W.R. Case & Sons.
Let’s take a few minutes to talk about case knives.
Quality
Case made a name for itself by producing quality knives that can be handed down for generations. When someone pulls out a case knife, there is no doubt about the quality.
At the hunting lease I used to be a member of, Case pocket knives were the preferring skinning knife. I have no idea how many deer were skinned with a Case knife on that hunting lease, and few of the knives had to be resharpened during the skinning process.
Cheaper knives frequently had to be resharpened while skinning a deer.
Made in U.S.A.
Case knives are made exclusively in the United States.
From the Case website support page.
Yes. Case Cutlery remains committed to handcrafting each and every knife in the United States. The majority of our knives are made in Bradford, PA, where Case has been manufacturing cutlery for over a century.
When it seems every company under the sun is rushing to use cheap overseas labor, Case is committed to “Made in the U.S.A.” quality.
Limited Lifetime Warranty
If there is ever a problem with your case knife, Case offers a limited lifetime warranty.
We warrant each and every Case knife to be free of defects in material and workmanship for the life of the owner, and we will repair or replace with a new Case knife, at our option, any Case knife that is defective.
Warranty does not cover abuse, such as using the knife as a hammer.
Collectable
Case has its own collectors club. From time to time Case will produce a limited run of special collectors edition knives.
Since 1981, the Case Collectors Club has pledged to be the premier association for knife collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. We strive for unparalleled customer service and quality, handcrafted knives worthy to be labeled ‘Made in the USA.’
Starting in 1905, Case knives feature a unique date stamp on the blade. Using the stamp, collectors can determine the approximate age of the knife.
Final Thoughts
This may sound like a sale pitch for Case knives, but it’s not; it’s just my honest opinion of Case.
These are not cheap knives you buy at a corner store. They are honest-to-goodness quality knives that are made in the U.S.A.
If a parent was going to buy a pocket knife for a young person and wanted it to last a lifetime, what brand comes to mind?
The only brand that comes to my mind is Case.
When buying a case, rest assured you are getting a quality product that will last generations.
