SHOT 2017: New Ruger Redhawk 8-Shot .357 Magnum Revolver

The Ruger Redhawk has a reputation as one of the toughest double-action revolvers ever made. While normally chambered in larger calibers such as .41 Magnum or .44 Magnum, for 2017 Ruger introduced a version in .357 Magnum. The trick? The new .357 Magnum version of the Redhawk holds eight cartridges in the cylinder instead of the traditional six.

In this video a Ruger rep goes over the features of the 8-shot .357 Magnum Ruger Redhawk and also discusses the engineering changes needed to stuff eight rounds in the cylinder.

I got a chance to try the 8-shot model at the 2017 SHOT Show Industry Day at the Range and I was impressed. The gun is no light-weight, but that extra heft soaks up the recoil of the .357 Magnum rounds and having two extra rounds on tap was nice. The MSRP is $1079.
