POTD: The Heritage Series Revival – Smith & Wesson Model 29-9

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! The Model 29-9 of Smith & Wesson was first launched in 2002 as part of the prestigious Heritage Series, which signaled a return to traditional features with modern enhancements blended in. This commemorative edition had a 6 1/2 inch barrel that was reminiscent of the original model 29’s famous length. It had a rich blue finish and target grips that epitomized the timeless design characteristics that made the model 29 a classic. Remarkable attributes included a six-shot fluted cylinder and adjustable rear sight. This frame, which was stamped “Model 29-9,” featured a four-screw construction, paying homage to its earlier versions. The inclusion of an extractor shroud also contributed to functionality and gave it a touch of class. Evidence of Performance Center’s involvement could be seen by means of PC logo beneath the thumbpiece implying improved performance and care for details
