Daiwa Upgrades the Legendary Certate Spinning Reels

Daiwa has announced the newest iteration of the Certate spinning reel with the new 2024 model. Building upon a 20-year legacy of Daiwa striving for the best spinning reel they could possibly make. Originally brought out in 2004 the Certate reels were first thought of with Daiwa’s introduction of the “REAL FOUR” design concept. The concept was born from pursuing the future of standards of spinning reels.

To stay in line with these four performance requirements of the original Certate the new 24 Certate brings in the most advanced technology that Daiwa has available. The reel is built upon Daiwa’s famous Monocoque (MQ) Aluminum Frame. This allows for a larger gear in the same size body, a stiffer frame for better gear meshing, and gets rid of screw holes to reduce water intrusion. Along with the MQ frame, the reel features a full Airdrive system, consisting of an Airdrive Rotor, Bail, Spool, and Shaft. This makes for effortless rotation of the reel with no starting inertia while saving weight and precisely laying line on the spool. Along with these features the 24 Certate also comes with Magseal, Digigear, Advanced Tournament Drag System, and a Twistbuster III roller. These new reels will be available in sizes 2500 to 5000. MSRP for the reels starts at $569.99 and goes up to $629.99.

Not long ago, DAIWA Marketing Manager and admitted ‘reel connoisseur’ Marc Mills was in Japan and had the opportunity to test the new CERTATE before its arrival in North America. “CERTATE reels have always been smooth, but this was noticeably smoother, more refined,” said Mills, impressed that greatness could get even greater.
