Federal Awarded Mk316 Mod 0 US Navy Contract for 7.62x51mm Ammo

We reported just this morning that Remington Ammunition secured a US Navy Contract for some 12 Gauge Rifled Slugs (AO23), and now their sister-company of Federal Ammunition has something positive to report as well. Federal Ammunition has recently been awarded the Mk316 Mod 0 US Navy Contract for 7.62x51mm rifle ammunition. This is a 175 Grain precision, match rifle loading that will be fulfilled over the course of two years.

Anoka, Minnesota – January, 2024 – The U.S. Navy has selected Federal Ammunition as a contract awardee for 7.62x51mm rifle ammunition.

It validates the quality of our products, thoroughness of our testing procedures, and dedication to hard work from our American factory workers.”
The cartridge selected during the two-year contract term is the Mk316 Mod 0, 7.62x51mm, 175-grain precision match rifle load. The ordering period is for a total of two years. The ammunition will be produced by Federal at the Anoka, Minnesota facility.

The Mk316 Mod 0 loading specifications for 7.62x51mm 175 grain is truly a precision match rifle load that both the military seeks out, as evident by this most recent contract, but also civilians as well. One of the most accurate rifle loads I have ever shot in a bolt-action was factory-loaded Mk316 Mod 0.
