Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT) has recently unveiled the Michaca Automatic, an innovative addition to their Premium Line, exclusively made in the USA. The automatic folding knife features a scale release lock and has been judiciously crafted by acclaimed knifemaker Philip Booth.
The Michaca aligns with Booth’s artisanal ethos, drawing inspiration from his hometown of Ithaca, Michigan—for which the name ‘Michaca’ is a portmanteau. He shares a special bond with this new creation, stating, “I love this mechanism because it’s hidden and I like old school lock-back design, fires perfectly every time and it’s fun. Truly a one-handed working knife.”
Exquisite in its design and sturdy in its execution, the Michaca Automatic is constructed of top-notch materials. The drop point blade is crafted from high-grade MagnaCut steel—known for its durability—finished off with a bead blast. Complementing the blade is a G10 handle, selected for its exceptional gripping properties. This handle is also adorned with Booth’s signature stripe, adding an element of distinct style to the everyday carry knife.
Following the tradition of modern pocket knives, a low-profile, deep carry pocket clip is included with the Michaca. This allows the knife to rest securely and unobtrusively in the user’s pocket.
In the competitive landscape of innovative knife manufacturing—where brands like Benchmade have made a mark with offerings such as subsidiary Adamas’ Mini Adamas, featuring marbled carbon fiber handle scales and satin-finished CPM-Magnacut blade—the Michaca Automatic holds its own. Available in two distinct models, it promises quality, style, and a faithful nod to traditional design elements.
CRKT’s new offering aligns with their continued dedication to providing high-quality, durable knives. With previous successes like the Isolate series, known for lightweight, ultra-sharp hunting knives, the Michaca adds a unique blend of style and function to their ever-evolving lineup. It mirrors the dedication shown by other knife manufacturers such as Acta Non Verba’s A100—renowned for its deep Cryo Elmax steel blade, comfortable weight, and dependable construction.
As the knife industry continues to evolve, companies like CRKT maintain their commitment to blending functionality, style, and top-quality materials. The new Michaca Automatic is a testament to Philip Booth’s creativity and weapon-crafting expertise, promising to delight both knife enthusiasts and everyday users alike.
