[SHOT 2024] KelTec Introduces a New Pistol Caliber Carbine: the Sub2000 Gen3

KelTec recently introduced the Sub2000 Gen3, the latest version of its pistol-caliber carbine, at the SHOT Show’s “Industry Day at the Range”. The initial release of the Sub2000 Gen3 will be in the 9mm caliber, taking up from where handguns leave off.

Unique features of the Sub2000 Gen3 include a folding mechanism that can accommodate a mounted optic and compatibility with the M-LOK system. The carbine design allows for quick deployment and compact storage when folded. Furthermore, the Sub2000 Gen3 is a permanently optics-ready rifle, as its forend rotates to maintain optic zero.

One of the key aspects of the new model is its optimization of pistol ammunition performance. This is made possible by a 16-inch barrel that offers advantages in ballistics and distance accuracy. The carbine also incorporates a straightforward blow-back system that facilitates easy operation and maintenance.

The Sub2000 Gen3 has an adjustable stock, and it is designed for rapid field stripping. Of note, the Gen3 displays enhanced modularity with M-LOK accessory compatibility. It comes with substantial picatinny rail space on both the top and bottom, which allows greater customizability.

In terms of compatibility with other firearm brands, the Sub2000 Gen3 is made to work with Glock magazines. The carbine comes offered in a G19 configuration, which pairs perfectly with G19/G17 9mm pistols.
