Design and Build Quality – Tasmanian Tiger Base Pack 52
The Tasmanian Tiger TT Base Pack 52 is a tactical backpack designed for demanding outdoor activities and rugged conditions. Right out of the box, it is evident that this pack is built to last. The design incorporates high-quality materials and attention to detail. The backpack is constructed from 700D Cordura, a robust and durable fabric known for its resistance to abrasions and tears. This material is also water-resistant, making the pack suitable for various weather conditions. The zippers are heavy-duty YKK and operate smoothly.
One notable feature of the TT Base Pack 52 is its modular design. It has the capability to attach additional pouches and accessories, allowing customization to meet specific needs. MOLLE webbing covers the front and sides, giving users the flexibility to expand their carrying capacity or attach gear as needed. This adaptability makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of outdoor activities, from hiking and camping to military and law enforcement applications.
The backpack’s design includes a rolltop opening, which enables easy access to the main compartment. This feature allows for secure and expandable packing and unpacking, even in wet conditions. The inside of the pack is organized with various pockets and compartments, including a hydration reservoir that can double as a laptop sleeve.
Comfort and Ergonomics – Tasmanian Tiger Base Pack 52
A crucial aspect of any backpack, especially one designed for heavy outdoor use, is its comfort and ergonomic design. The Tasmanian Tiger TT Base Pack 52 excels in this regard. Utilizing the V2 PLUS harness system from TT, ensures that you will be abut to find a way to get this pack comfortably secured to your body regardless of your size. The V2 plus system is a Size-adjustable carrying system for medium to heavy loads. The V2 Plus Carrying System has a high contact point on the back panel that offers a tremendous range when adjusting the back length. Backpacks with this system also have a detachable hip strap, which means they can also be carried with fully-packed plate carriers and chest rigs – the broad, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps make sure they are still comfortable to wear. The detachable hip strap can also be worn separately as a “warrior belt”.
The shoulder straps are padded and adjustable, allowing users to find the perfect fit. The sternum strap and hip belt provide added stability and weight distribution, which is essential for longer hikes and treks. The back panel features a padded and ventilated design that helps keep the user’s back cool and comfortable during extended periods of wear. The backpack also includes a removable aluminum frame, which adds rigidity and support for heavier loads. The combination of these features ensures that users can carry their gear comfortably, even during strenuous activities.
Capacity and Organization – Tasmanian Tiger Base Pack 52
The TT Base Pack 52 has a generous capacity of 52 liters, making it suitable for multi-day trips or adventures that require a substantial amount of gear and supplies. The main compartment is spacious and can easily accommodate clothing, food, and equipment. It also includes a hydration bladder sleeve for those who prefer to stay hydrated on the go. With the roll-top design, the capacity can be expanded up to 65 liters for carrying even more stuff.
The organization of the backpack is good but not great. The top pocket / lid is large and well-designed, providing ample space for smaller items, like maps, first aid kits, and electronics. The bottom internal pocket helps divide your gear and keep larger items like sleeping bags and blankets separated from your other gear, which I like a lot.
This adaptability is a huge advantage, especially for users who require specialized equipment for their activities. It’s also worth noting that the backpack is hydration system compatible, with ports for hoses and straps to secure water reservoirs.
Performance in the Field – Tasmanian Tiger Base Pack 52
The real test of any outdoor gear is how it performs in the field, and the Tasmanian Tiger TT Base Pack 52 does not disappoint. During my testing, I used the backpack on several extended hiking trips, and it proved to be a reliable companion.
One of the standout features of this pack is its durability. It handled rough terrain, thorny bushes, and sharp rocks with ease. The 700D Cordura fabric showed no signs of wear or tear, and the YKK zippers remained smooth and functional. Even in adverse weather conditions, the water-resistant material provided a level of protection for my gear.
The comfortable fit and ergonomic design were appreciated during long hikes. The padded shoulder straps and back panel, in combination with the sternum strap and hip belt, provided the support and comfort needed for extended treks. The ventilation in the back panel helped prevent excessive sweating, even on hot days.
