New Mexico-based Castle Tactical has just made available a new system to hang, store, and/or display guns and other range gear. Inventor and company owner, Scott Coons, recently showed off a sample of his new organization product at the Outdoor News America Writers’ Conference near Dallas. Writers including myself got to see and handle the Castle Tactical Armory System at the conference.

Castle Tactical was purpose-built to help regular people better store or display their guns and accessories. The concept is simple: slotted backers made of steel, in panels of 16″ or 32″ in width with several height choices, host a variety of hooks and shelves that are easily movable by the user but stay solidly in place with a click-in, gravity-aided interface. The backers are designed to fit spacing of typical wall stud placement. But if they’re being installed elsewhere, there is a cleat attachment offered in the event that only one point on a panel can be secured to a stud. Other attachment points go in with wall anchors in that case.
Hanging accessories include cups, hooks, shelves, and baskets designed with guns and range paraphernalia in mind. The cups can hold a long gun upright, slanted, or vertical. Some hooks are made for organizing AR magazines or earmuffs. Small shelves are great for holsters and small quantities of ammo. Scott Coons does not recommend storing full ammo cans on the panels.
This system solves the problem of a messy and disorganized gun room or closet. Assuming household conditions make it safe to do so, a single panel can hold a long gun and basic home defense supplies discreetly inside a bedroom closet. People or agencies currently storing their goods in random boxes, having to root through items before every range or road trip, can enjoy efficient organization. Stores or collectors that need to display guns can do so knowing Castle Tactical’s solid, patented hooks are made for scratch-free, shock-resistant contact with guns.
Currently the system is offered in powder-coated, matte finish in a neutral light gray color with a hint of green. It’s a match for most interiors. Of course, the end user can choose to paint the system to match their taste. A single panel is $29.99 plus shipping. Hooks, shelves, and other accessories are available by the piece. This expandable system is great for the private gun owner, collector, or store owner with even a little DIY skill to build a professional-looking, functional storage system, all at once or over time. I think the Castle Tactical Armory System could become to gun storage what M-LOK is to handguards – it’ll be what most people have or want.
Of course, we recommend keeping guns and ammunition out of reach of anyone whose hands don’t belong on them. The author recommends that, along with storing defensive tools in a way that allows immediate access to those capable of responsibly using them in an emergency.
Thanks to Castle Tactical inventor Scott Coons for sponsoring dinner and speaking at the 2023 Outdoor News America Writers’ Conference.
