Home on the Range #055: Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti Silencer
Adam Scepaniak 10.07.23
For many of us here, our Home on the Range can mean many things. It could be our homestead that we live on, the ranch we manage, the beehive we keep, the livestock we oversee, and many other things. Sometimes this means we need to take action to protect our range by hunting and managing predators like foxes and coyotes. For instances such as those, it can be helpful to utilize a silencer when you are shooting. It typically equates to less recoil impulse for the shooter, less noise, and the opportunity for follow-up shots if multiple varmints are threatening your property. Moreover, if you are a recreational target shooter, teach others about firearms, or even use a rifle for home defense, silencers are simply a great tool to have in your arsenal. For all of those reasons, we were excited to test the new Soundguard SG-30Ti .30 cal titanium silencer when Daniel Defense offered it to us. So, we will walk you through our experience of shooting and using the Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti .30 cal titanium silencer at a recent range day at F5 Range in Minnesota in preparation for varmint hunting. Let’s dive in!

Specifications – Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti Silencer
The Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti .30 cal titanium silencer has an MSRP of $1,000 putting it at a mid- to high-priced centerfire rifle silencer, but it does have some proprietary features to help command that price tag. KGM Suppressors makes all of the Soundguard series silencers for Daniel Defense and while they do not look drastically different on the outside there is a lot of small nuance to this can.
- More Shots on Target, Less Gas Blowback – With most suppressors, decreased noise means increased toxic gasses to the face. But DANIEL SOUNDGUARD Powered by KGM Suppressors utilize cutting-edge gas-flow dynamics that eliminate over-gassing and direct gas forward, substantially decreasing the amount of blowback. So, you can concentrate on putting shots on target instead of annoying gas in your face.
- Suppressors Making the Right Kind of Noise – DANIEL SOUNDGUARD Powered by KGM Suppressors are making noise in the industry while reducing it in the field.
- Stabilizes Rounds for Extreme Accuracy – Patent-pending gas-flow pathing stabilizes rounds and provides negligible point-of-impact shift.
- Virtually Eliminates Flash Signature – Patented baffle stack design and proprietary material coating reduces a firearm’s flash signature to virtually zero.
- Sturdy, Rapid, & Convenient Attachment – Direct-thread attachment utilizing industry-standard HUB 1.375-24 UNS enables secure mounting, rapid attachment/detachment, and SOUNDGUARD suppressors to be conveniently switched from one firearm to another compatible-caliber firearm with an appropriately threaded muzzle.
- Weight (w/ Mount): 15 Oz
- Length: 7.75″
- Tube Diameter: 1.75″
- Compatible Calibers: .223 – .300 PRC
- Material Construction: Titanium Baffle Stack & Tube

As mentioned in the specifications presented by Daniel Defense, the SG-30Ti is titanium dropping the weight to under 1 Lb with the mount. It also has ports or holes at the end of the silencer to vent gas. This can even be customized to your rifle and personal preferences because those holes are threaded for screws to close them in any arrangement you desire. If you don’t want a flash signature shooting prone, you can close the bottom ports. If you need to tune it specifically to a unique rifle, you can do that as well.
DANIEL SOUNDGUARD Powered by KGM Suppressors utilize state-of-the-art KGM technology to significantly lower impulse noise levels. A patent-pending baffle stack combined with a proprietary coating on internal parts reduce a firearm’s flash signature to virtually zero.
And because these suppressors are stamped with the Daniel name, they’re designed to keep doing so with 100 percent satisfaction. Guaranteed.
Field Use – Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti Silencer
To test the Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti .30 Cal titanium silencer, I placed it on my Springfield Armory 2020 Waypoint chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor. This is a versatile rifle that I have harvested black bear and coyotes with in the past in Minnesota. Now, we would see how my reliable Waypoint would perform out to ~500 yards with the Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti. To accomplish this test, we headed out to F5 Range north of Minneapolis/St. Paul where they have an outstanding facility for engaging targets from 5 yards out to 500 yards.
To warm up the rifle – and shake the dust off of my shooting skills – my wife, Andrea, and I began shooting the Waypoint coupled with the SG-30Ti at steel targets at 100 yards. This was easy work with a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44mm FFP scope topping off our rifle. The silencer immediately impressed us with how quiet it was. Both our professional photographer, Matt with F5 Productions, and I commented on how light the silencer was. It was eyebrow-raising to hear how quiet it made the 6.5 Creedmoor. The Soundguard SG-30Ti definitely had our attention.
The other element that was impressive and equally cool was witnessing the gas exit the porting of the silencer. You don’t get to appreciate this while you are shooting because it happens so quickly, but it is like you are wielding a dragon that is puffing out vents of smoke. So, I can definitely see how that is a benefit to shooters by tuning it to your precise liking. Whether to reduce flash signature from grounded or prone positions, or to simply assist a semi-auto rifle in running better.
Another trait I liked about the Soundguard SG-30Ti is how it tamed the recoil of the 6.5 Creedmoor. To further elaborate, the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge does not have much recoil at all to begin with – it is very pleasant to shoot – but when you are shooting 200+ yards, if you have as little recoil as possible you can see your hits occur on target. This is nice for target practice because you don’t need a spotter, and it is even better in the field hunting. Then, you can visually confirm positive, humane hits on game to ensure a better chance of recovery.
Final Thoughts – Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti Silencer
So, what are my final thoughts on the Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti .30 cal titanium silencer?… Overall, it is an interesting value proposition. From the outset of this review, I stated it is on the high side for price, but I am willing to retract that statement considering it delivers on everything it promises. This silencer is feathery-light, vents gas well, customizable, quiet, reduces recoil, and it can be affixed to a multitude of firearms because of its industry-standard HUB mounting system. For anyone who is looking for a great .30 cal silencer that flatly performs on all measurable metrics, the Daniel Defense Soundguard SG-30Ti is absolutely worth entertaining.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Daniel Defense for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their Soundguard SG-30Ti .30 cal titanium silencer. That is greatly appreciated.
