Panfish and crappie jigs are nothing new to the fishing world. For the last century, they have been made one way, a traditional mix of lead, hook, and maybe feathers and paint. But it’s time to update these jigs to the modern day with modern material. A material that will help put more fish in the boat. We’re talking about tungsten, an incredibly hard, and dense metal with the highest melting point of pure metals. These properties for a long time have made it not feasible for tackle-makers to use it. However, that’s changed in the past decade with tackle-makers having figured out how to leverage tungsten into some wicked jigs. While tungsten tackle has been limited for many years to the bass, walleye, and ice fishing realms, Northland Fishing Tackle is now introducing the Tungsten Crappie King Jigs. a tungsten jig to target panfish: crappies, sunfish, and perch.
The Tungsten Crappie King Jigs are compact bite-sized jigs that pack a heavy punch. With tungsten being 30% denser than lead, these jigs will sink through the water column into the strike zone fast. Once down in the zone, anglers have a more sensitive jig due to the hardness of the tungsten. It will telegraph more sensitivity up the line and rod to anglers. On top of it all these jigs are non-toxic and more environmentally friendly. They will be available in two weights, of 1/16 oz. (#8 hook) and 1/8 oz. (#6 hook), and in 8 vibrant different colors. They will be available in Spring of 2024 and will cost $6.59 per 2 jigs.
