Long Actions Added to the Christensen Arms MHR – Modern Hunting Rifle

Christensen Arms, of Utah, recently announced the addition of long action choices within their innovative Modern Hunting Rifle (MHR) line. With a strikingly modern appearance for a bolt gun, these “mini-chassis” rifles offer excellent ergonomics and modular flexibility for performance on the bench or in the hunt field.

The new long action chamberings include .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 PRC, 7mm PRC and 7mm Remington Magnum. This is in addition to short action models of 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, and 6.8 Western. Long action MHRs include a carbon fiber-wrapped, 24-inch 416R stainless steel barrel with a removable 5/8×24 side-baffle muzzle brake. Short action models have 22-inch barrels. All are are hand-lapped, button-rifled, and free-floating.

Flash-Forged Technology (FFT) is the name of Christensen’s signature stock material that’s stronger and lighter than carbon fiber, is employed in MHR components. The stock, grip, and forend are interchangeable FFT components. Users can also choose between a detachable box or internal magazine. More than 200 possible configurations are possible for any MHR rifle, allowing the user to transition the same action from one sport to another. A tool-free, adjustable comb and length of pull spacers provide for a custom fit between users or shooting positions.

Color is another aspect of the MHR’s futuristic styling. Actions are finished in black nitride, with receivers and sling/bipod attachment points cerakoted in black, brown, or tungsten.

The MHR includes Christensen’s improved bolt handle for easy cycling, even in gloves. A scope rail is included. The forward attachment hardware includes one of the MHR’s six flush cup receptacles, a bit of Picatinny rail, and M-LOK, making it ready to wear a variety of accessories.

Innovative design and user success were priorities in Christensen’s design of the MHR. Its FFT components keep it on the light side, a minimum of 7.4 pounds depending on chambering. Every MHR includes the company’s sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. The base price of their Modern Hunting Rifle is $3,499.
