[ICAST 2023] The Next Gen of Spinfisher from PENN – The Spinfisher VII
Eugene L. 07.20.23
The PENN Spinfisher line of spinning reels has a long history of being one of the top inshore and surf fishing reels dating all the way back to April 1961 with the original PENN Spinfisher Model 700. Now over 60 years later PENN is bringing out the newest generation of this long line of reels, the new Spinfisher VII. Continuing this long legacy, the Spinfisher VII comes with a fully sealed HT-100 carbon fiber drag system for a very powerful stopping power. The new big thing with the new spinning reel is an upgraded all-brass gearing system made on PENN’s new upgraded CNC technology. This is matched along with 5+1 stainless steel ball bearings that are all sealed for longevity. This reel has the makings of being a strong and durable reel to use in the salt to bring in some monsters.
The new Spinfisher VII is going to be available in 18 models, starting from a light tackle 2500 size up to an offshore big game 10500 size reel for taming the largest of sport fish. There will also be additional varieties as well such as long cast, liver liner, and bail-less variants. The max drag across all the variants will range from 15 pounds to 50 pounds depending on the reel size. All the models will also feature an IPX5-rated sealing system that protects them from water intrusion into the main body from splash and spray on the water. MSRP will range from $179.95 up to $289.95 depending on the model and should be available everywhere later this year in September.
