Anderson Manufacturing Launches AM-15 Dissipator

Anderson surprised us at NRAAM 2023 earlier this year with their take on the Dissipator AR-15 rifle. Unlike many other Dissipator ARs released, this new one from Anderson utilizes a rifle length gas system but incorporates some A4 features.

If you are unfamiliar with Dissipators, it was an experimental idea in the early days of the AR-15/M16 family of rifles by Colt (605) and later Bushmaster, to shorten the 20-inch barrel to make a more maneuverable and handy 15 or 16-inch. Reliability issues from timing and dwell issues ultimately made the Dissipator fall out of favor, but not before it cemented itself as a piece of AR history that many enthusiasts have wanted to add to their collection.
This new Dissipator from Anderson takes a slightly different turn with a flat top receiver and A2 length stock, while keeping the rifle length gas system, front sight base, and that oh so nice sight radius.

Myself and a couple of our friend’s at TFB had a chance to shoot and go over this new rifle with the folks at Anderson in the video below. Due to the reduced weight while retaining the rifle length gas system, this was a very pleasant rifle to shoot.
