Not Two but Three – NEW TriPolymer Advanced Monofilament from KastKing
Eugene L. 07.11.23
You got single polymer lines like plain monofilament, copolymer lines like coated monofilaments, and now we got a tripolymer line from KastKing. Focused on innovating the way you fish, KastKing has released its brand-new TriPolymer Advanced Monofilament. A new type of monofilament line that uses a proprietary tri-extrusion process to incorporate three types of nylon into one revolutionary line. It is not fluorocarbon and it is not monofilament, but a blend of both for the best attributes of each.
Rex Nelson, Product Development Specialist for KastKing, explains the impetus behind the development of TriPolymer. “Although fluorocarbon lines are great fishing lines, we were looking for an alternative to fluorocarbon. The limited supply and high cost associated with the resin used to make fluorocarbon translate into higher prices for anglers. We set out to make a fishing line that had many of the same benefits that fluorocarbon offers, yet at a much better price point for the angler.”
Nelson further explains the technology behind TriPolymer. “By combining three different nylon resins together into one monofilament line, a truly unique fishing line is created. The three nylon resins, being in the same chemical family, blend together perfectly during the manufacturing process. However, each resin has its own unique attributes that make the end result a truly amazing fishing line.”
The line starts with Nylon 6 for the core for a soft and supple line, then Nylon 6,6, the highest tenacity nylon, is introduced for strength in the line. The final part is the addition of Nylon 12, the most durable nylon, giving the TriPolymer Advanced Monofilament an amazing abrasion-resisting performance. All this combined makes for a soft and supple line that can handle the toughest fishing conditions.
The line is incredibly smooth for reduced friction in the rod guides along with having lower memory for better casting distance and fewer issues with line twists and backlashes. Line stretch is always a concern when it comes to mono fishing lines, but not in this case. The stretch factor is approximately 30% lower than traditional monofilament so expect higher sensitivity when fishing it. The last unique thing about TriPolymer Advanced Monofilament is the higher specific gravity than other monofilament lines, a specific gravity of 1.21 puts the line denser than water and lets it have a faster sink rate and lets lures and baits sink through the water column even faster.
