Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have the big brother to the Colt Pocket Hammerless. this is the Colt 1903 Pocket Hammer. Newfound dependability sparked the interest of everyday individuals seeking personal defense, who became more inclined to embrace the innovative semi-automatic designs popping up. With the introduction of John Moses Browning’s FN 1900, numerous companies eagerly joined the race to capitalize on this breakthrough. Consequently, Colt recognized the need to deviate from its original plan of securing military adoption for its Colt 1902 and instead focus on the civilian market. As a result, they decided to downsize the Colt 1902, making it more suitable for concealed carry and chambered in a softer shooting cartridge. The outcome was the Colt 1903 Pocket Hammer, a distinct variation from the previously released Pocket Hammerless model that debuted earlier in 1903. The Colt 1903 utilized many of the same components as the Colt 1902, thereby reducing the need for specialized parts and minimizing additional machining operations.
