Zastava USA is releasing an update to their ZPAP92 to accommodate a market need after the ATF’s new brace ruling. This new ZPAP is sporting an underfolder stock and, to meet the definition of a rifle, a pinned extended flash hider.

Zastava Arms USA always seems to bring something new and eye catching to each event they attend, and NRAAM 2023 was no exception. This new ZPAP92 is finished in a fantastic looking arctic camo, so I had to take a closer look.
At the heart of this new rifle is Zastava’s tried and true ZPAP92 with a 10-inch cold hammer forged barrel, 1.5 mm thick stamped receiver and bulged front trunnion. A rear sight mounted halfway down the hinged top cover and a new quadrail. Chambered in 7.62×39 and equipped with a standard 30 round magazine that clears the underfolder. Even with the extended flash hider, this rifle folds into a very compact package. The underfolder locks both open and closed very securely and has an excellent fit with zero play.
The pinned extended flash hider was a good choice and Zastava made it look quite attractive on this rifle. With braced pistols on the chopping block, I will bet that we will see more workarounds like this. Zastava’s solution on this ZPAP92 could be argued to be a better choice for customers, instead of simply installing a 16-inch barrel, that plan to SBR their rifle down the road. A gunsmith will surely charge less to remove a pinned flash hider than to cut down a barrel and recrown it.
Price and availability are TBD, but with how quickly Zastava USA has moved in the past, if there is demand for this rifle, they will do their part to get them in their customer’s hands as quickly as possible.
