POTD: The Nagant Revolver Suppressed – 7.62x38R Nagant

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have a Nagant Revolver in 7.62x38R. Not any Nagant revolver though this is the Nagant Revolver Suppressed! I recently had some fun with this one while I reviewed Silencer Central’s Banish 45 Suppressor. My review of that is available here (along with more photos). The Nagant revolver is a unique case since it lacks a cylinder gap that allows escaping gases to make noise. Just about 99% of other revolvers cannot be suppressed and if they are they will typically be loader than if they did not have one on them because of all the back pressure. Looking at you Heritage! The Nagant revolver makes this feat possible by eliminating its cylinder gap and having an odd type of ammo. The cartridges have the bullet seated below the mouth of the cartridge and they are usually crimped at the top. When revolving the cylinder rotates and suction cups to the barrel. in this operation, the cartridge is basically loaded into the barrel part way so when the bullet is fired it seals the gap completely. For actual shooting check out the video below!
