Taylor’s & Co. Introduces New 9mm Interpretation of the 1875 Remington Revolver

Taylor’s & Co., of Virginia, just announced the release of a new 9mm revolver for their 2023 Lifestyle series. The single-action shooter bears the design of the beloved 1875 Remington, but is chambered in 9mm. It’s called the 1875 Outlaw.

Uberti is the manufacturer of the updated revolver. Taylor’s & Co. specializes in working with manufacturers to design, import, and distribute esthetic, iconic designs updated for the performance expectations of the modern consumer.

According to the press release, “The new 1875 Outlaw 9mm Revolver is a faithful reproduction of the 1875 Remington® single-actions, which kept the solid frame and overall styling of Remington’s 1858 percussion models. Ordinary citizens and Old West lawmen alike recognized the sturdy quality of the new Remington revolvers. The infamous Frank James even carried one for most of his outlaw career in .45 caliber.”

The new revolver is shipping now. Two barrel lengths are available; 7.5 and 5.5 inches. It has a smooth, standard size, walnut grip. The frame is forged steel with blued finish. There is a notch rear and fixed front sight. The ejector rod is integral to the loading assembly for ease of unloading.

If a buyer wants their 1875 Outlaw to be really special, Taylor’s & Co. custom shop will fine-tune any in-stock gun upon request. Costs for this option are not cited in the company press release.

Any single action shooter who enjoys spending less on ammunition, and having an easier time finding it, might find this interpretation of the 1875 Remington to be ideal. The comparatively tame recoil of 9mm Luger as compared to the original 45 LC means the 1875 Outlaw will be more accessible to a wider range of shooters, young and old.

The 1875 Outlaw is 12.8 inches overall with the 7.5-inch barrel, and 10.8 inches long with a 5.5-inch barrel. MSRP is $669.75 regardless of size.
