POTD: What the Deuce! – Stolzer Lil Deuce 2 Bore Percussion Pistol

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! This one may sound similar to the Photo of the day from yesterday and that is because it is related! This is the Stolzer “Lil Deuce”. Much like its much larger and heavier brother the Double Deuce, this Lil Deuce is a member of the stopping rifle (…pistol) family. Stopping rifles are made to stop very large and dangerous games (typically African game in this case). I suspect that this one was more or less made for fun. Not to have fun with per say, but literally, it was probably a funny thought so Stolzer & Sons made it happen. I am sure it is a real handful.

“Designed by gunsmith Colin Stolzer the “Lil Deuce” utilizes 100 grains of black powder to propel a 1.3 inch cast round lead ball weighing an astounding 3,300 grains. Even more impressive, this huge bore pistol is rifled! Simple blade front sight on the blue barrel inscribed “C. Stolzer” on the right and “Lil Deuce” on the left in fancy script. Features a back action dolphin lock. With 2 bore ball mold. Designed as a companion piece to the also incredibly large “Double Deuce” 2 bore rifle seen above.”
