Cheaters Never Prosper! Lake Erie Walleye Tourney Riddled with Lies
Adam Scepaniak 10.03.22
For those who are in professional fishing tournaments, the competition can be as fierce and serious as any other major sport. People will look to do every tiny, little thing they can to get a competitive edge and win a major tournament because there are some serious prizes to be won. From scouting a lake weeks in advance, testing innumerable lures, watching weather patterns, and even cheating. This past week at a Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) fishing event two men were blatantly caught cheating and competitors were boiling with rage.

Chase Cominsky and Jake Runyan were on a fishing team together, and at the end of the tournament they caught 5 walleye weighing in at 33 Lb which was considerably more than all other competitors. The tournament director thought something was fishy so he decided to cut into the fish, and immediately found lead weights, fish filets, and other debris stuffed inside to increase the weight of the fish.

In all, there was 8 pounds of additional “materials” stuffed inside the walleyes to increase their weight and tip the scale in their winning favor. The abhorred cheaters, Chase Cominsky and Jake Runyan, were caught live in front of all of the other competitors during weigh-in, and the crowd had become rapturous with anger.
Disgusted guys and gals, I’m sorry for letting you down for so long and I’m glad I caught cheating taking place in YOUR LEWT at the same time. I can’t think enough to post results, but congrats Tsczyko and French and TOY Hendricks and Ulmer. Same goes to the yak and open winners. I hope you know now that when I say ”you built this LEWT and I will defend its integrity at all costs”, I mean it. You all deserve the best.
– Lake Erie Walleye Trail Tournament Director, Jason Fischer
We would never promote violence of any kind, shape, or form on AllOutdoor, but it is honestly surprising no one tried to “have a talk with those guys” in the parking lot after they got caught cheating and were kicked out of the tournament. As always, let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below. We always appreciate your feedback.
