POTD: Grenade Launcher Assembly for 98K Mauser with Case

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! HAs anyone ever gotten the opportunity to work with grenade launchers? What about old-school bolt action rifle ones like the 98K grenade launcher? They are pretty simple in their design and function. Most use a muzzle device that a grenade can be placed in and the grenade is propelled by the gas from a fired blank that gets sent behind the grenade. Some rifles have a way of pulling a pin upon exit of the launcher and others are specialized grenades. Early ones required the shooter to pull the pin and then fire it which sounds sort of terrifying.

“This two piece cast metal 98K grenade launcher has a rear piece that clamps around the muzzle and is marked “G. Gr. Ger. / fnh” over an eagle/WaA76 proof. The threaded rifled barrel end where grenade is inserted is stamped with an eagle/WaA76 proof and the number “7”. Comes with the grenade launcher sight marked “G Gr Ger / K98K” on the stock clamp and the inside of sight is marked “cpq” over and eagle/98 proof. Complete with leather carrying pouch.
