POTD: Rare Model 38 Carcano Carbine with Mounted Grenade Launcher
Sam.S 06.28.21
Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! I got really excited when I saw this Model 38 Carcano Carbine because it has a rare side-mounted grenade launcher. I love goofy ideas like this because some of those goofy ideas are good ideas! Here you have your rifle and you need to toss this grenade real far. Conveniently, the launcher is attached to your rifle and it is not necessarily inhibiting the function. The way the launcher works is you start by removing your bolt from your rifle, put it into the grenade launcher, throw a blank and grenade to launch and that’s it. Pull the trigger!
“This is a very rare “Special Troops” (Truppe Speciali) variant Italian bolt action carbine, the top of the rear portion of the barrel is marked with “GARDONE / V.T. / 929-VII” and the serial number on the left. Blade front sight and adjustable rear sight graduated to 1500 meters, with iron battle sight underneath the adjustable arm. The carbine is equipped with a matching numbered side mounted grenade launcher with it’s own receiver. Mounted with a full length, one piece straight grip stock and handguard with “LP” in a circle on the left side at the receiver and a round “FARBRIC D’ARMIR FERNI 1929” Coat of Arms and matching serial number on the left side of the buttstock.
