Springfield Armory Model 2020 Waypoint named 2021 Rifle of the Year

Every year at NRAAM a special set of awards are given out for several categories within the firearms and hunting industry. The Golden Bullseye awards are presented during NRAAM and must showcase products that are currently on the market, have recently been released, and have been reviewed and tested by an NRA staff member or trusted contributor. This year the Springfield Model 2020 Waypoint has been named as a top contender for the 2021 Rifle of the Year award by the American Hunter NRA Journal.

The Model 2020 Waypoint was released back in September of 2020 and was specifically marketed to hunters. Chambered in either 308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6mm Creedmoor, or 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge), the Waypoint is a lightweight, high-tech rifle capable of delivering deadly accuracy downrange at extreme distances. It is no surprise that the Model 2020 Waypoint is being considered for the Golden Bullseye award.

The rifle as presented by James Reeves of TFBTV is of high quality, great accuracy, and lightweight to boot. The core of the Waypoint is the Model 2020 barreled action that features dual locking lugs, a fluted bolt that runs glassy smooth, and EDM raceways that give the shooter a repeatable engagement when cycling the rifle.

Aside from the standard configuration of the rifle which begins at $1,699. Other options with carbon fiber barrels, different base colors, and triggers (using the Triggertech trigger) are available based on what you want right out of the box. For an out-of-the-box rifle, this is incredibly inexpensive when compared to other high-end barreled actions. Most barreled actions don’t include a stock/chassis, magazines, and other accessories that are needed to complete the rifle. The Springfield Waypoint is shaping up to one of 2020’s best releases and 2021’s rifle of the year of the staff over at the NRA’s Journal are to be believed.

The Golden Bullseye Award for 2021 Rifle of the Year will be announced during the NRA Annual Meeting and Exhibits between September 3rd through 5th, 2021 in Houston Texas. This year NRAAM will be available in person, but snippets from the show will be available through official channels as well as TFBTV Showtime.
