Bushnell Announces New RXS-250 Reflex Sight

Last week, Bushnell announced a brand new red dot sight called RXS-250. The company is a bit late to the market with a red dot suited for both handguns and long guns, but it appears they’ve taken cues from consumer feedback on other red dots to create a pleaser.

The sight features a 4 MOA dot with 10 brightness settings. This range should perform well across any external brightness condition. It’s also night vision-compatible.

Consumers will surely hail the top-loading battery compartment, saving them from resetting zero after battery changes. Bushnell touts a long battery life of 50,000 hours on the middle brightness setting. The sight has the same footprint as the Leupold Delta Point Pro, so is compatible with many mounting platforms. Bushnell also includes a Weaver mount with purchase, to make long gun mounting easy. It’s a mystery as to why there isn’t a Picatinny rail mount included, or better instead, to fit most modern sporting rifles and shotguns. The mount appears it’ll still work with Pic rails, albeit without precision.

Toughness is built in. An IP67 dustproof/waterproof rating and metal housing mean the sight is impact-resistant and can even be submerged for a short time.

User friendly features include brightness adjustment buttons located where they’re easy to use on the side of the housing. The housing edges are chamfered to prevent hanging up on clothing. A form-fitting protective cover is included for when the optic is in storage.

Windage and elevation are adjustable at 1 MOA per click. The slotted adjustment screws appear to accommodate adjusting with a dime. An adjustment tool is included for this, as well as for the mounting hardware.

Visibility is good thanks to the size and shape of the housing. Lenses have multiple coatings, including one that prevents the sight picking up reflections that present false “artifacts,” in the words of Bushnell, from odd light sources. Additionally, there is no blue hue visible as with some other reflex sights; the shooter should see true colors with the sight’s 86% light transmission.

Co-witness is available with many factory red dot-compatible and suppressor-height sights.

Auto-shutoff happens after 12 hours. Those seeking a carry optic might find a bit of disappointment that there is no motion activation feature. That appears to be the only popular trait Bushnell left off of this sight, however as it is full-size, it’s more likely to be used for competition or plinking rather than concealment.

Bushnell covers the RXS-250 with a fully transferable, five-year warranty. MSRP:  $249.99
