South Dakota has a New State Record Largemouth Bass

We recently reported on a new 14.6-pound state record largemouth bass in Kentucky, and now it looks like another state record has been broken in 2020, this time in South Dakota.

South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks Facebook page recently posted about the big bass caught by Matthew Dunham in Indian Scout Lake on April 27, 2020. It weighed 9 pounds 5 ounces, was 23″ long, and had a girth of 19-7/8 inches.

SD’s previous record was set in 1999 by Richard Vierick when he caught a bass weighing two ounces less than Dunham’s new record. Vierick’s fish came out of Hudson Gravel Pit on November 14, 1999.
