Flinging a Blood Bug from a Javelin! NEW Innerloc Broadheads

Innerloc, a long time technology leader and innovator of broadhead design for bows, crossbows, and bow fishing has a NEW tip for arrow-shooting air rifles dubbed the Blood Bug that looks to improve upon previous designs for this relatively new shooting platform. The idea of arrow-shooting air rifles is merely a few years old, but it has caught on rather quickly in popularity.

The Blood Bug was developed for small game; moreover, was primarily inspired by the new Umarex AirJavelin. The Innerloc Blood Bug is a special folding “Fixed Blade” design weighing only 50-grains. It zips like a dart from pneumatic arrow guns that were made to shoot lightweight carbon fiber arrows.

A patent-pending friction plug drags on the blades holding them in the shooting position. This innovative technology allows the blades of the Innerloc Blood Bug to remain in the open position when in flight and throughout impact but will pivot forward for easy removal from the intended target. The 3-blade design easily opens a large wound channel creating an ethically lethal combination for small to mid-size game when paired with the 300 FPS (feet per second) Umarex AirJavelin. The rest of the specifications for the Blood Bug broadhead can be read below as presented by Innerloc:

  • Special-Folding, Fixed-Blade, 3-Blade Design
  • Developed for use on Small Game
  • Weighing only 50 Grains
  • 0.040” Thick Blades
  • Cutting Diameter of 1.125″

To get yourself a Blood Bug 3-Pack of broadheads, you are looking at an MSRP of $24.99 direct from Innerloc. They were just made available on February 15th and are currently sold out due to their immediate popularity, but hopefully they become available soon again. Kevin Sullivan of Innerloc Broadheads shared some more thoughts on this project in this excerpt below:

It was an honor to partner with Umarex USA in the development of a lightweight broadhead that would provide field point accuracy and produce an impressive wound channel. We enjoyed the engineering challenge just as much as Corey Brossman, host of Innerloc’s Out There TV Show enjoyed testing them. In true Innerloc fashion, it’s made to be deadly by design.

The idea of arrow-shooting air rifles is still a pretty abstract notion to many of us, but what do you think of Innerloc‘s “Blood Bug” broadhead? Do you currently own an Umarex AirJavelin? Is this something you would be willing to try with one? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
