IWI Tavor 7 Status Update – ETA August 2019
Dickson 07.22.19
Jeremy Gresham, Director of Sales and Marketing at IWI US, have posted on the Tavor 7 Facebook Group about 15 minutes ago with this update on the Tavor 7 7.62x51mm Bullpup Rifle.
This will be the final update on the T7 before we start shipping. As you can see below we are building racks of guns and test firing as I type this message out. For a better part of year and a half of extra testing on the rifle we have come to the conclusion that the Tavor 7 will not get the accuracy of 1.5 MOA that we set out to get. Overall the weapon system as a whole was never designed in a way to achieve this 1.5MOA. It was designed to shoot minute of man on today’s battle fields with a high degree of reliability. In the last update I posted we got it down around the 1.5MOA but we gave up too much in other areas so that simply wasn’t the answer. After all this the engineering team has put a major focus on accuracy going forward with new product development on top of what we already do well. We have shot more 308/7.62 NATO in the last year of testing than I believe most people will fire in a lifetime times 10. In conclusion it’s a solid weapon system for what it was intended for and soon you’ll be able to get your hands on it. By soon I’m thinking middle of August we will start shipping unless something unforeseen shows up. Please tag me when you are asking questions and I’ll speak to what I can as always.
To those of you who have already lost track, the Tavor 7 was initially slated to release in January 2018. Looks like this is actually coming after being delayed for well over a year.
The question left standing is, will you still buy one given this type of accuracy (or lack thereof)? Please let us know in the comment section below.
