Howa, a Japanese firearms manufacture dating back to WWII, now offers their popular M1500 series of bolt-action rifle in the newly introduced MDT Oryx Chassis. It’s neat to see how quickly a manufacture adopts a brand new chassis so quickly. MDT is a Canadian chassis manufacturer that have a great reputation by offering affordable chassis with modern features. The Oryx chassis itself weights only 4.2lbs. It retails for $399 and it offers a free-floating forend with M-Lok slots at 6 o’clock, an over mold pistol grip and a buttstock with cheek adjustment. It comes with a detachable ACIS-pattern 10-round polymer MDT magazine.
This rifle is available in 6.5mm Creedmoor, 6mm Creedmoor or .308Win. They all have lifetime warranty with Sub-MOA guarantee. Barrel length varies from 20-26″ and weights 10.8 to 11.5 lbs depending on configuration.
The rifle/chassis is shipping to dealers now with MSRP of $1099 and it’s available in grey as shown or in FDE.
