Repeal Second Amendment Movement Has Gun Grabbers Worried

When former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens wrote an opinion piece suggesting the Second Amendment should be repealed, gun grabbing liberals should have been jumping for joy, right? At last, the progressive left had a retired Supreme Court Justice who was saying what the progressives wanted to hear.
Then again, maybe not.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, and the progressive agenda has been laid bare, gun grabbers are worried. What are they worried about? They are worried about blue collar voters who will run, not walk, to the polls in order to defend their right to keep and bear arms.
Progressives have stated for decades they do not want to ban all guns, they just want to ban certain guns, such as the AR-15 and the AK-47. That is part of the common sense approach to gun control, let’s just ban the most dangerous types of guns.
Then, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens came out and said what the true agenda is, and that is to repeal the Second Amendment. The timing could not have been worse as the mid-term elections are in November of 2018.
Studies have shown gun owners can be one topic voters. When someone running for office mentions gun control, gun rights activist will show up at the polls in mass, while gun control proponents stay home. In other words, when it comes to a single topic such as gun control, progressives are less likely to vote than gun owners, and that has the left worried.

Left-leaning members of the media who are worried about upcoming elections want retired Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens to stop suggesting lawmakers repeal the Second Amendment.
The Washington Post and Think Progress writers don’t want Stevens’ call to amend the U.S. Constitution to rile up gun-owning, blue-collar workers before the November election. They are asking the 97-year-old former jurist to keep his opinions about gun control to himself.

It is too late for the John Paul Stevens to keep his mouth shut, the words have already been written. For once, the true agenda of progressive liberal left has been laid bare for the voter to read.
When the mid-term elections roll around, it will be difficult for Democrats to deny they do not want to ban all guns. After all, 800,000 people marched on Washington D.C. and demanded congress take away their rights. Then came calls for the Second Amendment to be repealed.
It is pretty clear what is going on. What truly matters is who shows up at the polls in November.
