Watch: Making a Wooden Mug Without a Lathe

Okay, so you’re way out in the boonies trying to survive, but you forgot your favorite drinking cup or beer stein. The horror!

What to do? Well heck, cut down a nearby tree and make one of course. You’re gonna need a band saw. Hmmm. Maybe this isn’t a great survival video after all, but it does show a cool way to make a wooden mug from a big hunk of tree, without using a lathe.

He uses a band saw, a drill press, and a router table, as well as some hand tools (including what may be the world’s dullest bow saw).

Pretty nice result, if you ask me. You like?
