My SIG P229 SAS Gen 2 9mm is Better Than Your SIG Legion
Jon Stokes 11.12.17
I just took some photos of this guy yesterday, and they turned out well so I have to share.
This is a SIG P229 SAS Gen 2 in 9mm that I first sent to Gray Guns for the action perfection package and some upgrades (listed below), and then sent to Robar for NP3 coating on the internals and matte Roguard on the frame and slide.
The idea was, instead of buying a Legion, spend a bit (ok, a lot) more money and get exactly what I want, the way I want it. Also, I carry AIWB in a minimalist, trigger-guard style holster from Cook Holsters, so my nether regions really appreciate the melt treatment that the SIG Custom Shop puts on the SAS guns.
Here’s a list of what was done to this gun:
- Hogue G10 grips
- Reduced size decocker (from a P224)
- Gray Guns Self Defense Action Perfection Package
- Gray Guns PSAIT trigger
- Gray Guns fat guide rod
- SIG X-Ray sights
- Robar matte Roguard finish
- Robar NP3 internals, trigger, hammer, etc.
There is one thing and one thing only that I don’t like about this gun: I no longer have the SIG Custom Shop logo on the side, so that’s a bummer. But, y’know, we all make sacrifices.
So, how does it shoot? It’s amazing, of course. The trigger is a dream, and the Roguard adds some lubricity so the slide is silky smooth. I’ll talk more about it in a longer post, but for now I just wanted to get a few pictures out there.
Also, one more thing: it has a little brother, a SIG P239 with close to the same mods as above, and with the Roguard satin finish. Pics on that to come.
