GLOCK Spills Details on the New Gen5 Pistols

We who are Glock fans have been long awaiting the release for any info on the new Gen 5 pistols, and now we finally have it. There have been some changes and upgrades. It seems they listened to not only the FBI requirements but also to us, their customers.

We now have this info to look at and read about and see a possible release date of the pistol. I for one will be in line to buy the G17 model (my favorite), and I hope it feels better then the Gen 4. I have stayed away from the G4 models because I personally did not like them. The Gen 3 models have long been my favorite.

Glock had this to say about the new Glock Gen5 pistols:

“The G17 Gen5 and G19 Gen5 pistols we are introducing next week were inspired by the GLOCK M pistols used by the FBI and include many features the GLOCK community has been asking for.  There are over 20 design changes which differentiate our Gen5 pistols from their Gen4 predecessors, including a flared mag-well, a new DLC finish, the GLOCK Marksman Barrel, ambidextrous slide stop levers, and a grip which has no finger grooves.

GLOCK should be announcing the launch of their G17 Gen5 and G19 Gen5 pistols on Wednesday, August 30th.”

So with these changes there is promise of even a better Glock out there for us coming soon. I am glad they listened to us their customers and made some of the changes we had to make on our own over the years. It’s promising to see a company as big as GLOCK actually listen and make the changes. Again, I for one am looking forward to the new Glock G5.

They also changed the following along with what is posted in their stock photos above.

  • Reinforced front slide rails
  • New extractor
  • Modified trigger bar
  • Scallop cut in front of frame grip
  • Trigger pin modifications
  • Frame redesign under trigger guard
  • Redesigned trigger mechanism housing
  • An orange magazine follower
  • Enhanced magazine floor plate
  • Enhanced trigger spring assembly
  • Dehorned slide nose
  • No locking block pin

Once you start buying these let Glock know how you feel about this new G5 model and even let us know on here, in the comment section below.

See you out there. Gunner
