The guys at the Military Arms Channel have made another great video. This one is about the Japanese Type 99 Arisaka WWII Sniper Rifle. The video gives an excellent description of the rifle, optics and history.
On a personal note, I found it interesting that the scope was not adjustable. The optic was sighted in at the factory and there was no way for troop to move the adjustment. kind of like how some pistols have fixed sights.
Once you learn were the rifle is sighted in at, use Kentucky windage to hit your target.
Now for the video.
Overall, I was impressed with how well the rifle grouped. I was expecting the barrel to be shot-out and not able to hold a group.
Looking at Gun Broker while I write this article, prices are up there. I guess the days of cheap surplus rifles are long gone.
The Japanese Type 99 Arisaka was manufactured from 1939-1945, and around 3.5 million were produced.
