Decoys and blinds must be arranged according to wind direction and available natural cover. But hunters who have the opportunity to set up blinds (so decoying ducks are not looking directly at hunters as they set their wings) are wise to do so.
If possible, build a blind so birds drop into decoys from the left or right side of the hide, rather than coming directly into the front of a blind. Ducks that decoy directly into the face of hunters are more likely to see a hunter’s face or a dog move or someone’s shotgun, than ducks that are looking at decoys and flying within range to the side of a blind.
