Watch: Hi-Point 45acp vs. Colt 1911

Once again, Paul Harrell has produced another excellent video. This time, he asks the question, “Is a Hi-Point worth it?”
Paul starts off by talking about the Hi-Point 45acp and what would be a fair comparison. The only other full sized, single action, single stack, 45acp handgun Paul has in his collection is a Colt Government model.
So, Paul does a side-by-side comparison of the Hi-Point 45acp and the Colt Government model.
One of the issues facing Hi-Point owners is finding a holster that will fit the handgun. Paul takes a tub full of holsters and pours it out on the table. He ends up with a couple of holsters that will fit a variety of handguns, except the Hi-Point.
Break down seemed to be a real pain, as a tool is required to remove a pin in the Hi-Point. After the pin is removed, the slide will come off. With the Colt Government model, no tools are required to break the handgun down.
On a personal note, I like how Paul addresses that not everyone is able to afford an expensive handgun. A Glock or Beretta costing $600, or more, is out of reach for a lot of people. For those who can only afford a Hi-Point, it functioned and was able to keep the rounds on paper.
One question I have to ask, why does the Hi-Point have a magazine safety? I thought those went away in the 1980s.
Special thank you to Paul for making yet another excellent video. Keep up the great work.
